Neuro-Affirming Support

Neurodivergence is not something that needs to be “fixed.” Whether you are Autistic, ADHD, or navigate the world with Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, or other processing differences, your brain is simply wired uniquely. Traditional therapy often tries to fit neurodivergent people into neurotypical boxes I don’t, I do things differently.

Neuro-affirming counselling focuses on understanding your specific brain map rather than pathologisng your traits. We move away from behaviour modification and toward self-advocacy and empowerment.

Support Tailored to You

We recognise that many neurodivergent individuals also navigate “co-occurring” challenges like anxiety, burnout, or RSD (Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria). My goal is to provide a therapeutic environment that is flexible, sensory-aware, and deeply respectful of your autonomy.

You deserve a space where you don’t have to translate yourself. Let’s work with your brain, not against it.

Sensory Awareness

Identifying environmental triggers and honouring your sensory needs.

Executive Functioning

Finding systems that actually work for your brain, not just "better planners."

Unmasking

Creating a safe space to peel back the layers of social camouflaging and discover your authentic self.

Communication Styles

Validating direct communication and different ways of connecting with the world.

Anxiety Therapy

Anxiety is a natural part of life, but when it begins to dictate your every waking hour, it’s time to try a new approach. Whether you are struggling with the constant what ifs, maybe’s or the repetitive loops of OCD, you don’t have to navigate the noise alone.

Anxiety often feels like a mind stuck in the future, scanning for threats and telling you constant untruths. It leaves you in a state of physical and psychological exhaustion.

OCD acts like a faulty alarm system to trap you in a cycle of obsessions and compulsions to keep you safe.

Therapy provides a place where you can start to make sense of these patterns that have been learnt. Together we will work towards lessening these symptoms and develop practical tools to help you move from a state of surviving to thriving. I know these feelings well and what I have learnt is there’s no cure, however we can have control over the thought’s and eventually learn to live a life we want.

Your thoughts don’t have to be the boss of you, ultimately thoughts are just thoughts. Let me help you to find some peace again where you can plan ahead without the fear of it being taken away.

OCD Counselling

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often characterised by a cycle of intrusive, unwanted thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviours or mental acts (compulsions) performed to ease the resulting distress. While this cycle can feel overwhelming, specialised therapy offers a research-backed path toward reclaiming your life.

How can I help you with the OCD cycle

Therapy provides a structured, supportive environment where you can learn to handle OCD without relying on rituals. I can help you understand that while you cannot always control your thoughts, you can change how you respond to them.

Together, we will identify your intrusive thoughts in a safe, non- judgemental space. It is important to remember that your thoughts are not your identity. They are symptoms of an anxious cycle fuelled by OCD patterns, and we will work to break that cycle without fear or shame.

The primary way I do this is:

Building a Step-by-Step Plan

We will create a "hierarchy" of fears, gradually facing them in a safe, controlled way.

Teaching Response Prevention

I will guide you in resisting the urge to perform compulsions, which eventually teaches your brain that the "danger" isn't real, and the anxiety will fade on its own.

Challenging Irrational Beliefs

Through education and reframing the brain I, you can identify and reframe distorted thoughts, such as an exaggerated sense of responsibility or the need for absolute certainty.

ADHD Counselling

ADHD isn’t a flaw to fix—it’s a completely different kind of mind. While the modern world isn’t always built for an executive function system that runs at a different pace, with the right support, your unique cognitive wiring can become a genuine superpower. I know this both as a therapist and from the inside: I understand exactly what it feels like to lose the thread mid-sentence, to feel three steps behind despite working twice as hard, and to carry years of quiet shame about things that seem to come easily to others. Living with that constant internal noise can be deeply exhausting, often leading to burnout, anxiety, or a lingering sense of frustration.

Together, we will step away from generic productivity hacks and instead work with your brain rather than against it. My goal is to help you peel back the layers of frustration and build highly tailored, practical strategies that map directly onto how your mind actually works. We will explore your specific challenges—whether that is tackling chronic procrastination, managing emotional regulation, or mastering time blindness—while honoring your natural cognitive strengths.

By restructuring how you approach daily tasks, communication, and self-care, the very same energy, creativity, and intense focus that once felt completely overwhelming can become the exact driving forces that help you thrive, find clarity, and achieve your personal best.

Trauma Therapy

Trauma can leave you feeling as though the world is no longer safe or that your mind and body are no longer your own. Whether it stems from a single overwhelming event or a long-term environment of abuse or stress, the impact of trauma is deeply held within the nervous system.

As a trauma-trained therapist with extensive experience in this area I understand that “moving on” isn’t about forgetting; it’s about processing what happened so that it no longer dictates your present.

Understanding the Impact of Trauma

Trauma isn’t just a memory of the past it’s a physical and emotional response that the body keeps the score of. It often manifests as:

  • Hypervigilance: Feeling constantly “on guard” or easily startled.
  • Flashbacks or Intrusive Memories: Feeling as though the event is happening again in the present. This can include complex PTSD or PTSD.
  • Emotional Numbing: Feeling disconnected from your feelings or from those around you.
  • Physical Symptoms: Chronic tension, fatigue, or a “tightness” in the chest that doesn’t seem to go away.

My approach is grounded in the “unwavering support and empathy” I have cultivated over 14 years of practice. Because I am trauma trained, I prioritise your safety and pace above all else.

Here is how we will work together:

Creating an anchor

We go at your speed. You are in control of what you share and when you share it.

Stabilisation first

Before we dive into the "why," we work on the "how" equipping you with grounding tools to manage distress in your daily life.

Master's Level Expertise

Utilising my Level 7 qualifications, I integrate evidence-based trauma models to help your brain and body make sense of the past.

Beyond the "Book"

While I am highly trained, I honour your unique story; as I often say, my clients are the "best books I've ever read," and your lived experience is the most important guide in our work. You don't have to carry the weight of your history alone. Together, we can work toward a place where you feel grounded, supported, and ultimately, at home in yourself again.

Targeted Support, When You Need It Most

Sometimes, you don’t need months of therapy to find your way forward; you just need the right conversation at the right time.

Single-Session Therapy (SST) is a focused, one-at-a-time approach designed to help you address a specific challenge in a single meeting. Instead of committing to long-term treatment, I treat our first session as if it’s the only one diving straight into what matters most to you today.

Whether you’re facing a tough decision, navigating a sudden transition, or simply feeling overwhelmed, I’m here to help you find clarity one session at a time.

My goal is to make every minute count. We don’t spend weeks digging into the past; we focus on your “here and now.”

  1. The Pre-Session Prep: Before we meet, I’ll ask you to complete an in-depth target sheet, this enables me to do the prep work before we start the session.
  2. The Deep Dive: We spend our session exploring that specific issue, identifying your existing strengths, and uncovering new perspectives.
  3. The Takeaway: We wrap up with a “next steps” plan. You leave with a tool, a decision, or a shift in mindset you can use immediately. I can provide a transcript of the session for an additional cost. This can be helpful to listen to and do your own work after the session has finished.
  4. The Follow-Up: After the session, the door remains open. You are welcome to book another session whenever you feel the need, but there is never an obligation.

Why Choose a Single Session?

Immediate Focus

We skip the long intake forms and get right to the heart of your current situation.

Action-Oriented

You’ll walk away with tangible insights, a fresh perspective, or a concrete plan of action.

Flexibility

No subscriptions or long-term contracts. You decide if and when you need to return.

Empowerment

SST honour’s the strengths you already have, providing just enough support to help you unstick a specific problem.

Understanding Narcissistic Abuse

f you feel like a shell of the person you used to be constantly walking on eggshells, doubting your own memory, and apologising for things you didn’t do I want you to know: It isn’t your fault and I truly mean that!

Narcissistic abuse is a silent, invisible form of trauma. It doesn’t always leave bruises, but it leaves deep scars on the soul. It usually begins with “love bombing” an overwhelming flood of affection that makes you feel finally seen. But slowly, the tide turns. The person who once put you on a pedestal begins to devalue you through.

Parental and family narcissistical abuse also leaves a person with deep wounds often from early childhood. It is a profound form of psychological manipulation where a child is treated as an extension of the parent’s ego rather than an individual. It causes the same symptoms of relationship abuse. This can be:

  • Gaslighting: Making you question your sanity or your version of events until you no longer trust your own mind.
  • The Moving Goalposts: No matter how hard you try or how much you change, it is never enough to keep the peace.
  • Intermittent Kindness: Just when you are ready to leave, they offer a glimpse of the person they used to be, pulling you back into the cycle.
  • Toxic control seeking constant approval and this results in self -doubt and emotional exhaustion.

You Are Not “Difficult” or “Sensitive”

Being in a relationship with a narcissistic personality is physically and emotionally exhausting. Your nervous system is in a constant state of high alert, waiting for the next mood shift or criticism. This isn’t just relationship drama; it is a systematic erosion of your identity.

How We Walk the Path Back to "You"

Validate Your Truth

We strip away the gaslighting and look at the facts of what you experienced.

Grieve the Illusion

We gently acknowledge that the person you fell in love with may not have truly existed, allowing you to mourn the loss of the dream.

Silence the Inner Critic

We work to replace their harsh, critical voice in your head with your own compassionate one.

Rebuild the Foundation

We rediscover your boundaries, your interests, and your worth independent of anyone else’s opinion.

Menopause

You’re not falling apart. But it might feel that way.

Mood swings that seem to come from nowhere. Anxiety you’ve never felt before. Tearfulness, brain fog, a sense that you’ve somehow lost yourself. For many women, the emotional and psychological side of menopause can feel every bit as difficult as the physical symptoms , and yet it’s so rarely talked about.

If you’ve found yourself wondering “Is this really me?” or “Why is everything suddenly so hard?” , you’re not alone, and there’s nothing wrong with you. What you’re experiencing is real, and it makes sense.

What’s actually happening

Menopause isn’t just a hormonal shift it can quietly reshape how you feel about yourself, your relationships, your sense of identity. For some women, it arrives alongside other big life changes: children leaving home, ageing parents, career transitions, relationship shifts. The timing can make everything feel amplified.

Many women also find that menopause brings up feelings and patterns from much earlier in life things that were managed, pushed aside, or never quite resolved. Sometimes this stage of life becomes a kind of reckoning, and that can feel unsettling before it starts to feel freeing.

How counselling can help

This is a space where you don’t have to minimise what you’re going through or put a brave face on it. We can talk through whatever is feeling hard whether that’s the emotional unpredictability, a growing sense of disconnection, low mood or anxiety, changes in how you feel about your body, or simply trying to make sense of who you are in this new chapter.

Counselling won’t speed up menopause or fix the hot flushes. But it can help you feel steadier, clearer, and far less alone in the middle of it.

You deserve support that takes all of you seriously. If you’d like to find out whether counselling might help, I offer a free call which you can then decide if we are the right fit.

A Space for Every Stage

When a child or teenager is struggling, it often feels like the whole family is holding its breath. Whether they are dealing with big emotions, school anxiety, or the fallout of a difficult life event, my goal is to provide a space where they feel safe, heard, and most importantly understood.

Working with young people requires a shift from traditional “talk therapy” to a more dynamic, developmental approach. Here is how I support children and teens aged 5–17

The way we approach our sessions depends entirely on your child’s age and where they are emotionally. We don’t just sit and talk; we use the languages that children and teens naturally speak.

For Younger Children (Ages 7–12)

At this age, children often lack the complex vocabulary to explain why they feel sad or angry. Instead, they “play” their feelings out.

Creative Expression

We use play, drawing, and storytelling to help them process their world.

Emotional Literacy

We focus on naming "big feelings" and learning how to manage them before they become overwhelming.

Parental Collaboration

I work closely with you to provide tools you can use at home to reinforce their progress.

Adolescents (Ages 13–17)

As children move into their teenage years, they are navigating a massive shift in identity and independence.

Building Trust

My first priority is creating a "judgment-free zone" where they feel safe to be honest without fear of getting in trouble. I also try to keep things real with no adult speak, to build a rapport requires empathy and kindness. We laugh a lot and cry sometimes. I learn so much from them and they get a different perspective from me.

Practical Coping Skills

We tackle real world issues like social media pressure, friendship dynamics, and academic stress using cognitive and mindfulness tools, music and creativity.

Autonomy & Privacy

While I keep parents informed of overall progress, I respect the teenager’s need for a private space to explore their thoughts, which is essential for building their autonomy, resilience and confidence.

Couples Counselling

Most couples don’t fall apart dramatically. They drift.

Small misunderstandings that never quite get resolved. Conversations that always seem to end the same way. A growing sense of distance, even when you’re sitting in the same room. Or perhaps things have come to a head , there’s been a betrayal, a crisis, a moment where something shifted and you’re not sure how to come back from it.

Whatever has brought you here, the fact that you’re looking for support is already something. It doesn’t have to be a last resort.

Couples counselling still carries the idea that you only seek it out when things are really bad. But many couples come to therapy not because they’re on the brink, but because they want to understand each other better to break a pattern that keeps repeating, to navigate a big life change together, or simply to find their way back to each other after a period of disconnection. You don’t have to be in crisis to deserve support.

What we might explore together

Every couple is different, and so is every piece of work we do. Some couples need space to have conversations they haven’t been able to have at home. Others want to understand why the same arguments keep happening, or why one person always withdraws while the other pursues. Some are trying to rebuild trust after something painful. Others are figuring out whether the relationship still has a future.

Whatever is going on for you, the aim is the same, to help you both feel heard, to bring more clarity to what’s actually happening between you, and to give you something more useful than the cycle you’ve been stuck in.

A word on how it works

I work with both of you in the room, which means I’m not on anyone’s side but I am on the side of the relationship, and of each of you feeling safe enough to be honest. Sessions can feel uncomfortable at times. That’s not a sign something’s wrong; it’s usually a sign we’re getting somewhere.

If you’d like to find out more, I offer a free initial call either together or individually, before you commit to anything. It’s just a chance to ask questions and get a feel for whether this might be the right fit.

Family Therapy

When a family begins to struggle, it rarely happens with a loud explosion. More often, it’s a quiet, gradual shift.

You might notice that the kitchen table has become a minefield of unspoken tensions, or that simple daily interactions routinely devolve into the exact same exhausting arguments. Over time, everyone retreats into their own corners, feeling isolated and misunderstood despite sharing the same home. Alternatively, perhaps a sudden crisis or a major life transition has thrown off your entire household’s balance, leaving you unsure of how to steady the ship.

Reaching out for help during these times isn’t a sign of failure—it is a proactive step toward healing.

There is a lingering stigma that family therapy is a desperate last resort saved only for households in total chaos. The truth is, many families come to me simply because they want to communicate more effectively, break repetitive behavioral patterns, or navigate a stressful chapter of life as a cohesive unit. You don’t need to wait until things feel completely broken to deserve a supportive, professional space.

My Approach to Family Dynamics

During our time together, I do not take sides, nor do I play the role of a judge. Instead, I am an advocate for the health of the family unit as a whole. My role is to cultivate an environment where every individual feels safe enough to be completely honest.

Because we will be addressing real, raw issues, sessions can occasionally feel uncomfortable or emotionally heavy. Please know that this discomfort isn’t a sign that therapy is failing; it is usually a clear indicator that we are uncovering the root of the problem and making meaningful progress.

The Focus of Our Sessions

Creating a Neutral Ground

Providing a structured, calm environment where family members can express thoughts they’ve felt unable to share at home.

Unpacking Relationship Dynamics

Identifying why certain members clash while others withdraw, and discovering how these individual reactions affect the whole group.

Navigating Upheaval

Helping everyone adapt to major life shifts, such as a divorce, bereavement, a relocation, or the challenging transition of children growing into adolescence.

Restoring Trust

Healing collective wounds and rebuilding a sense of mutual respect and safety after a period of prolonged conflict or betrayal.

Words Of Thanks

The greatest privilege of my work is witnessing the courage of those I sit with. Here is what some of them have shared about our journey together.

Frequently Asked Questions

I do both online and face-to-face. For online sessions we will use Zoom, and I have my comfortable office for face-to-face sessions.

Sessions typically run 60 minutes, giving us enough time to properly settle in and go somewhere real, without it becoming exhausting.

The duration of the therapeutic process depends entirely on your unique needs, goals, and circumstances. Because everyone processes experiences differently, there is no one-size-fits-all timeline.

Here is a general breakdown of what to expect:

  • Short-Term Focus (6 to 12 sessions): Ideal for addressing a specific, recent hurdle, such as navigating a major life transition, managing acute situational stress, or learning immediate coping mechanisms for anxiety.

  • Long-Term Support (6+ months): Better suited for deeply rooted patterns, complex trauma, long-standing relationship dynamics, or ongoing personal development and self-discovery.

Ultimately, you are always in the driver’s seat. We will regularly review your progress together to ensure the pace feels right and that you are getting the support you need for as long—or as short—as it benefits you.

The short answer is: it depends on your child’s age, their comfort level, and the stage of therapy.

I look at child counselling as a collaborative team effort between the therapist, the child, and you. Here is generally how I manage this process:

  • The Initial Consultation: I always start by meeting with you (the parent or guardian) together with your child, or sometimes on your own first. This lets us gather background information and make sure everyone feels safe and comfortable.

  • Younger Children: For toddlers and very young children, parents are often right there in the room. Sessions frequently involve play-based therapy where you will actively participate.

  • Older Children & Teens: As children grow, having a private, confidential space is crucial for them to open up. For older kids and teenagers, sessions are typically one-on-one.

How we keep you involved: Even if you aren’t sitting in the room for every minute, you are never left in the dark. I schedule regular parent check-ins to share progress, discuss general themes, and give you practical tools to support your child’s growth at home.

Please don’t worry—this is incredibly common, especially in the first few sessions. It is completely natural for a child to feel nervous, protective, or even a little resistant to talking to a new adult.

As a child counsellor, I never force a child to sit and talk. My first priority is simply to build a sense of safety and trust at their pace. Here is how I handle those quiet moments:

  • We use play, not just words: Children communicate naturally through behavior, play, and art. If your child doesn’t want to speak, we might draw, play with clay, build things, or play a game. Often, they will naturally start sharing their thoughts while their hands are busy.

  • Silence is okay: I am entirely comfortable with silence and will never put a child on the spot or make them feel tested. Sometimes, just sitting in a safe room with an adult who doesn’t demand anything is exactly what a child needs to lower their guard.

  • I meet them where they are: If they only want to talk about their favorite video game or hobby during the first session, that is exactly what we will do. Building a strong, trusting bond is the most important foundation for the deeper therapeutic work later on.

You can reassure your child before they arrive that there is absolutely no pressure to speak. They are completely in control of what they choose to share with me.

Yes, absolutely. Anxiety and depression are two of the most common reasons people reach out to me, and therapy is highly effective in helping you navigate both.

When you are trapped in a cycle of heavy moods or constant worry, it can feel like you are stuck. My approach is designed to help you break that cycle by giving you both immediate relief and long-term tools. Here is how I work with you to tackle them:

  • Understanding your triggers: Together, we will look at the root causes of your anxiety or low mood. Identifying the specific situations, thoughts, or past experiences that trigger these feelings is the first step toward changing how they affect you.

  • Rewiring thought patterns: I use evidence-based techniques, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), to help you spot negative or anxious thought loops. Once we identify them, I will teach you how to challenge and gently reframe them.

  • Practical coping tools: I will provide you with real-world strategies to manage physical symptoms of anxiety (like a racing heart or panic) and the exhaustion or lack of motivation that often comes with depression. This includes mindfulness, grounding exercises, and manageable daily routines.

You don’t have to wait until things feel unbearable to seek support. Whether you have been struggling for years or are going through a temporarily overwhelming patch, I offer a safe, confidential space where we can work as a team to help you feel like yourself again.

For the majority of clients, I highly recommend starting with bi-weely or once a week.

Therapy works best when it has a steady, predictable momentum. Meeting regularly allows us to build a strong therapeutic relationship, stay on top of recent challenges, and consistently practice new coping tools without losing track of your progress.

As we work together, your needs will naturally change. Here is how we might adjust your schedule over time:

  • Weekly: This is the gold standard for the beginning stages of therapy. It provides the consistency and safety needed to dive into deeper issues and build real traction.

  • Fortnightly (Every Two Weeks): Once you feel you have gained stable traction, learned solid coping strategies, and are starting to feel more in control, we can transition to every two weeks. This acts as a great step down to test your new tools independently.

  • Ad-hoc or Monthly Check-ins: For clients who have completed their main therapeutic goals but want a regular space to maintain their mental health, prevent burnout, or process occasional life stressors.

Ultimately, we will collaborate on a schedule that fits your unique goals, budget, and lifestyle. We will review our frequency regularly to make sure the pace feels entirely right for you.

Yes, I offer both. I provide face-to-face sessions at my private practice as well as secure, confidential online video therapy.

Both formats are highly effective and deliver the exact same level of dedicated clinical care, allowing you to choose the option that best fits your lifestyle, comfort, and schedule.
